In case you are searching for the best bathroom sink drain, you are in the right spot. But it worked great for my sink for over a year, which sure beats every few weeks. We know what suits your bathroom, but giving them the best touch is your decision. That still won't be as good as physical removal. The balloon won't be perfect, so check again every few hours and add more as needed. Instead mix it together, then pour it into the overflow hole until it's full. Don't do that, since you've blocked the drain. They say to pour the enzymes then pour water. Follow the instructions of the enzyme cleaner, add the enzymes to hot water. Inflate balloon so it seals the overflow drain. Get a balloon, stick a pencil or something in it, push down the drain, with enough sticking out so you can blow it up. They work by eating and breaking down everything inside - hair, debris, bacteria, molds, etc. If you do want to use chemicals, either a gel based bleach product (usually toilet cleaners, but careful not to get the acidic type), or even better an enzyme cleaner. Thanks fo making me actually do something, good luck!! I really think this is the answer to both our problem. After and few ins and out, and more hot water, the smell is practally gone. When I pulled this thing out it was like I stuck oil, blunt it was smelly black scum. Turned on some hot water and remove the stopper and shoved this, slowly, all the way to the trap. I did as someone mentioned and use small pipe cleaners in the overflow and got practically nothing so I went to the hardware store and got this, ![]() Ive cleaned mine regularly trying to get rid of the smell. We know the smell isn’t sewer because that isn’t getting past the trap. I know everyone is saying to clean the overflow, but in reality how much stuff actually gets in there. I’ve had this problem for years and these comments finally provoked me to try something. I'm contemplating just having the entire sink fixture replaced, but is there anything more I can try? ![]() Then I use vinegar and baking soda, then I squirt mold/milder/fungus cleaner in the hole, then a mold blocker even! I have a bottle brush that I scrub in there with cleaning materials.
